Smoke Testing of Sewer Lines
As part of its continued commitment to enhance wastewater infrastructure and protect the environment, the City of Tallahassee's Underground Utilities began smoke testing around the community in January. This routine, preventative maintenance test will help identify potential points of unwanted inflow and infiltration in the sewer system, thereby improving wastewater treatment operations and efficiency.

Providence Heart of the Hills Placemaking
The Providence Heart of the Hills Placemaking project encompasses the addition of sidewalks and street trees on Highland Street, Hillsborough Street, and Lake Avenue. Additionally, the intersections of Lake Avenue & Highland Street and Lake Avenue & Hillsborough Street will be repaved with decorative asphalt.

Saxon Street Streetscape Project
The main purpose of this project is to construct a sidewalk along Saxon Street from the existing sidewalk on Campbell Street to Floral Street and improve the landscaping from Orange Avenue to Floral Street. This project is part of the adopted Greater Bond Neighborhood First Plan and represents an important investment in our community.

Park Avenue Ditch Stabilization at Blair Stone Road Bridge
The Park Avenue Ditch Stabilization Project will address erosion and improve maintenance access along the Park Avenue drainage ditch, starting just east of the Redwood Drive/Inglewood Drive intersection and ending just east of the Blair Stone Road Bridge.

Georgia Street Drainage & Infrastructure Improvements Project
As part of its commitment to ensuring reliable service, the City of Tallahassee performed a utility improvement project along West Georgia Street to replace aging infrastructure. The project replaced approximately 2,000 linear feet of existing water mains, 1,600 linear feet of sewer mains and included the installation of 1,600 linear feet of storm drainage pipes.

Call Street Water Valve Replacement Project
The City’s North Monroe & Call Street Water Valve Replacement Project included replacing aging water valves in the intersection of North Monroe Street and Call Street and the intersection of Adams Street and Call Street. Collectively, these investments support the City’s commitment to be a leader in utility service delivery and to proactively address issues related to aging infrastructure.

Balkin Road and Center Drive Water Main Replacement
The City of Tallahassee completed a water main replacement project along Balkin Road and Center Drive. The project included construction of a new 8-inch water main, water services and meters to replace the existing system currently serving the area, as well as replacement of existing fire hydrants and the addition of a few new ones to increase fire protection coverage. The new water facilities are intended to result in reduced utility maintenance activities, improved system capacity and reliability, and increased fire protection.
